After more than 10 years since my last visit I'm back in Milan for EICMA 2026 which of course meant another visit to the old Innocenti factory site at Lambrate.
After a coffee at Bar il Lambrettino we headed off towards Parco Maserati which has been renamed to Parco Lambretta. More acknowledgement of the history which had been ignored for so long.
Pretty soon the first of the old buildings still standing on the East side of the freeway came in to view but there was something different about it. The old steel girders seemed freshly cleaned and painted and a new heavy industrial floor is being installed - the old factory is to live on and get a new chapter!
Sadly more of the old buildings have been demolished since my last visit but amongst all the doom and gloom there was some good news. The water tower adjacent Via Marcinelle still stands proud though sadly covered in graffiti and the Centro Studi is there for now.
The old Innse building has been renovated again by the Camozzi Group - maybe it is them who are reactivating the site?
